British photographer Jason Larkin's project explores the vast waste dumps created around Johannesburg by the gold mining industry.

Includes an essay by journalist Mara Kardas-Nelson. This essay has also been translated into Zulu by Thandiwe Nxumalo Kunutu.

Jason Larkin was born in 1979. In 2011 he won the Arnold Newman New Portraiture Award.

Simon Stone was born in Lady Grey in the Eastern Cape in 1952. Currently he lives in Cape Town.
