Njideka Akunyili Crosby was born in Enugu, Nigeria. In 1999 she moved to the USA to study, settled in Brooklyn in 2012, and relocated to Los Angeles in 2014.
Meleko Mokgosi was born in 1982 in Francistown, Botswana. He moved to the USA to study in 2003, and settled in New York in 2012. He has his studio in Brooklyn.
Wangechi Mutu was born in 1972 in Nairobi. She moved to the USA in the early 1990s to study and settled in Brooklyn in 2000.
Paul Mpagi Sepuya was born in San Bernadino, California, and lives in Los Angeles. He lived in Brooklyn from 2002 to 2014.
