Brothers Hasan and Hussein Essop were born in Cape Town. They have been collaborating since their graduation from the Michaelis School of Fine Arts in 2011. Hasan and Hussein were the winners of the Standard Bank Young Artist Award for Visual Art in 2014.

Frank Jolles spent twenty years collecting Zulu beer vessels, interviewing the makers and cataloguing informastion.

Frank Jolles (1931-1914) was Chair of German at the University of KwaZulu-Natal from 1987 until hs retirement in 1994. He continued to work as Honorary Research Associate at the University and Research Fellow of the KwaZulu-Natal Museum.
