Nomusa Makhubu was born in 1984.In 2006 she won the ABSA L'Atelier, Gerard Sekoto Prize and the Rhodes Amnesty International Woman of the Year Award in the "Art" category. She is Chairperson of Africa South Art Initiative (ASAI), a member of the South AFrican Young Academy of Science (SAYAS), a fellow of the American Council of Learned Societies and an Abe Bailey fellow.
