Joshua Pulumo Mohapeloa (1908-1982)born in Molumong in the eastern mountains of Lesothowas in Lesotho. Apart from a few years in Johannesburg (1938-1943) studying for a diploma in music at the University of the Witwatersrand Mohapeloa spent most of his life in Morija. He "created a modern African choral idiom in tonic solfa score inspired by traditional Basotho music, jazz, western classical music and hymns. Some of his songs have achieved classic status among choirs throughout southern Africa. His output of 183 short unaccompanied choral songs is newly transcribed into staff notation in this Edition and presented as a repetoire" Christine Lucia
