Cedric Nunn's photo essay attempts to reclaim the lost history of the Xhosa resistance against the colonising forces in the Eastern Cape by engaging with the landscape where the Frontier Wars took place.

Foreword by Zakes Mda. Introduction by Jeff Peires. Afterword by M. Neelika Jayawardane.

Cedric Nunn was born in Nongoma, KwaZulu-Natal in 1957. He moved to Johannesburg in 1982, and became one of the prominent photographers documenting resistance to apartheid. He co-founded Afrapix, a photographic collective that supplied newspapers outside South Africa with images of the struggle, with Paul Weinberg, Peter Mackenzie and Omar Badsha. He was also Director of Market Photo Workshop in Johannesburg from 1998 to 2000. In 2011 Nunn was awarded the first First National Bank Joburg Art Fair Award.
