Jacobus (Jaco) Phillipus Fouché was born in 1967 in Klerksdorp.  His debut novel, Die Ryk van die Rawe (1996) was awarded the Eugène Marais Prize. His novels include Siobhán van die Sirkus, Verstevlei and Die Gryslandverblyf.
