Marion Baxter (1945–2002) worked first as an English teacher and then as an editor at Andrew Tracey’s International Library of African Music, the JLB Smith Institute of Ichthyology, and the Institute for the Study of English in Africa at Rhodes University in Grahamstown. In 1992 she won the Sanlam Literary Award for her short story The Worm Turns. She died in 2002.
