In January 2018 Sande Dotyeni, Buntu Nonkelela, Themba Boqwana and Thando Wontoni participated in a land invasion on vacant land owned by businessman Rob Pollock and partners along the R72 in the area of Cove Rock, Buffalo City (formerly East London). Urgent court interdicts were issued against the illegal land occupiers. The men then approached Pollock and he agreed to sell his 17ha of land. Having no capital the four men announced that for R40,000 a plot, people could invest in their new venture, Cove Rock New Development. By May, 200 of the 500m² plots had been sold and the money paid into a trust fund they set up.
