Makhosazana Xaba has published three collections of poetry, These hands, Tongues of their mothers and The alkalinity of bottled water, and a collection of short stories, Running, and other stories. Her edited volume, Our Words, Our Worlds, writing on Black South African women poets, 2000-2018, was co-winner in the Non-Fiction Edited Volume category for the 2021 Human Social Sciences Award. She is currently a research associate at the Wits Institute for Social and Economic Research (WISER)
