Mozambican writer António Emílio Leite Couto, better known as Mia Couto's books include the short story collection Voices Made Night and the novels Under the Frangipani, The Last Flight of the Flamingo, Confessions of the Lioness and Woman of the Ashes, all translated from the Portuguese by David Brookshaw. Couto won the Camões Prize in 2013 and the Neustadt International Prize for Literature in 2014. He lives in Maputo, where he works as a biologist.
