Medical doctor, author, and poet Dawn Garisch is also the author of the novels, "Once, Two Islands" (2007) and "Trespass" (2009), and a collection of poems, "Difficult Gifts". She also wrote a memoir, "Dance with Suitcase". In 2011 she won the Sol Plaatje European Union Poetry Award for her poem, "Miracle".
