This map of Africa is a typical Italian copperplate engraved map with decisive outline, stippled seas and anthill mountain ranges. The origin of the Nile conforms to the Ptolemaic concept and certain important rivers are depicted.

Girolamo Ruscelli was an Italian mathematician and cartographer active in Venice during the early 16th century.
