Shimmer Chinodya was born in Gweru in 1957. His books include Dew in the Morning, Harvest of Thorns (Commonwealth Writers Prize - Africa Region), Child of War, Tale of Tamari, Chairman of Fools, Strife and Tindo's Quest. From 1995 to 1997 he was Distinguished Dana Professor in Creative Writing and African Literature at the University of St Lawrence in upstate New York.
