Gora Ebrahim grew up in Roshnee, Vereeniging, and played for Dynamos and then for Orlando Pirates, and joined the Bafana Bafana camp in 1992. In 1995, while playing for Rabali Blackpool, he kicked coach Walter Rautmann in the chest after being substituted in a match against Mthatha Bush Bucks at Thohoyandou Stadium. After this incident he retired from professional football and focused on his career as a teacher.
