In 2016 eight SABC journalists, known as the SABC8, protested against the censorship imposed by the then Chief Operating Officer of the public broadcaster, Hlaudi Motsoeneng. Foeta Krige, one of the group, won the 2016 Nat Nakasa Award for courageous and brave journalism, and the Chairman's Guardian of Governance Award in 2017 from the Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa. For the last 14 years he has been Executive Producer of the current affairs programmes of the SABC's Afrikaans radio station, RSG.
