Monograph on South African artist Chris Soal.
Foreword by Sean O'Toole.
In his sculptural, studio-based practice Chris Soal works with discarded and mundane ephemera - toothpicks and bottle caps, as well as concrete, rebar, electric fencing cable, sandpaper, and other industrial materials - transforming them through processes of aggregation, combination, and erosion so that they take on biomorphic qualities or evoke natural phenomena.
Contributions include:
"Chris Soal in Conversation" with Marta Papini
"Navigating our Artificial Counter-Reality Through Everyday Objects" by Natasha Becker
"Wherever You Go, There You Are" by David Mann.
Chris Soal was born in 1994, grew up in Johannesburg, and is now based in Cape Town.
