Whether he's reflecting on his Northern Cape roots, the banal existence of a civil servant in search of meaning and love, or the solitude of his current life, Muller Minnaar's poems capture a sense of isolation, loss and longing, fragmentation and existential dread.

Muller Minnaar was born in 1967 in Kimberley, grew up in the mining town of Sishen in the Northern Cape, and spent eighteen years in the permanent force in Potchefstroom and Pretoria. He went AWOL in 2022 and currently lives in a rented back-room in Bloemfontein, where he tends a vegetable garden.
