South African lawyer and Afrikaner Nationalist Oswald Pirow (1890-1959) served as Minister of Justice and later as Minister of Defence under J.B.M Hertzog. He followed Hertzog into the new Herenigde Nasionale Party and in 1940 launched his own fascist New Order movement within the party. He prosecuted Nelson Mandela in the 1956 Treason Trial.
