An account of the ten-year collaboration between VLIR-UOS in Belgium and the University of Limpopo in South Africa, which began in 2010. The programme resulted in a solid research platform being established at the University of Limpopo, an increased number of postgraduate students and PhD graduates, and the acquisition of two major research programmes, namely the Risk and Vulnerability Science Centre and theDIMAMO Population Health Research Centre.

Writer and publisher David Robbins has published 24 books, including three volumes of short stories and many travel books, and some biography, history and socio-political reportage. In 2004 he was asked to launch flagship periodical to chronicle the University of Limpopo's transformation from a "homeland" institution established by the apartheid state. The result was Limpopo Leader, which he edited for eight years.
