Sedick Crombie briefly discusses the history of rugby in South Africa and offers the personal stories of 45 national rugby players sidelined during the apartheid era who played under the non-racial South African Ruby Union (SARU) banner, as told to the author by the players themselves.

Sedick Crombie was an avid follower of non-racial ruby played under the auspices of SARU from the 1960's to 1994, and played rugby at a club level for Strand United RFC.
