"In this book, entitled Black Masculinities, I am beyond honoured to bring together 220 carefully edited photographs by 22 selected artists, who are in their essence contributing to the far-ranging spectrum of Black masculinities. By doing so, they are also questioning the narratological function of culture heritage and gender in visual culture. Shot through the lenses of 22 Black and People of Colour artists from all around the world, the stereotypical entanglement of 'Black identity' and 'masculinity' is visually deconstructed, partly reproduced but, more importantly, infused with a contemporary set of values."
