"Survey: Cape of Good Hope is one of a number of 'surveys', a document or a report in images rather than text: a contextual backdrop against which the origin of the sculpted figures can be considered. In this instance a series of manipulated photographs and photomontage images are combined in a sequence leading from rural areas of the Western Cape into the city of Cape Town. It is intended to evoke an impression based on observational and theoretical research rather than form a narrative, documentary essay or fixed interpretation of the landscape or history."
