This book documents the creative process for the project, "The Refusal of Time", a 5-channel video installation with breathing machine, first presented at Documenta (13) 2012, in Kassel, Germany. "The Refusal of Time", which explores time through various media including dance, film, music and the spoken word, was conceived by William Kentridge and science historian Peter Galison and realised in collaboration with video filmmaker Catherine Myburgh and composer Philip Miller. The book includes sketches and notebooks, all the texts read during the performance, pictures from the rehearsals and workshops as well as highlights of the show, interviews, and drawings by William Kentridge.
