South African TV and radio presenter, sports commentator and musician Johnny Davids on his challenging childhood. Unwanted by his mother, he was left with his grandmother on the Cape Flats. Neglected, he ran away, determined to find his father’s family.
Davids was a radio presenter on RSG for 7 years, and hosted his own music shows such as OPPIRADIO and Al Daai Jazz. A continuity presenter on KykNet for 10 years, he presented the shows Kunskafee, Tuine en Tossels, Kollig and Kwela. In 2003 he and his then singing partner, Vivian Molauly, won the first Zing singing competition on KykNet. In 2020 he released his first single, "Strongholds Will Fall"
