Memoir of Barry Dwolatzky, Emeritus Professor and Director of Innovation Strategy at the University of the Witwatersrand and Founder Director of the university's Joburg Centre for Software Engineering and founder of the Tshimologong Digital Innovation Precinct in Braamfontein. 

Barry Dwolatsky grew up in Johannesburg. Socially and politically active, he went into self-imposed exile in the UK in 1979, where he worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, Imperial College London, and at the GEC-Marconi Research Centre. After being diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia in 1987, he returned to South Africa and taught at the University of the Witwatersrand, becoming a full professor in 2000.
