Professor Bonang Francis Mohale reflects on the experiences, decisions, principles and people that have shaped his life journey, and shares his philosophies on family and parenting, the intense fear of poverty that fuelled his career ambitions, and the moments of choice that led to a level of success unimaginable to a young boy born and raised in Etwatwa township, Benoni.

"Coming in from the Cold is personal - because I know what it feels like to come in from the cold myself. But it is also about responsibility. Once you have crossed the threshold, you cannot stop there. You must help others in. You must warm up the room. This book is about that journey - not just my own tory of finding a place at tables where my people were once unwelcome, but also how I have tried to use those opportunities to lift as I rise, to widen the spaces, and to ensure that others - especially women and young black leaders - can find their rightful place in the rooms where decisions are made ... It is about recognising how fr we have come, how much more there is to do, and the responsibility each of us carries to leave the door open for those who follow." from the introduction
