Laloo 'Isu' Chiba (1930-2017) was active in the Transvaal Indian Congress and the South African Communist Party. He joined Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK), the ANC's armed wing, in 1960 and was arrested in 1964 and sentenced to 18 years on Robben Island. On his release in 1982 he joined the United Democratic Front and served two terms as an ANC Member of Parliament.
