Harold Barnett (b. 1921) joined the South African Air Force in 1942, fought in the Battle of El Alamein and patrolled the Straits of Messina after the invasion of Italy. In 1944, after flying 107 missions, he was deployed to Port Elizabeth as a flight instructor.
Peter Barnett is Harold Barnett's son.
