As a young boy Garth Japhet was inspired by the Jungle Doctor series of books to study medicine. However, working as a medical doctor was not the life he had imagined and he fell into depression - until he discovered the healing power of story. As result, he co-founded Soul City, a multimedia project that addresses health issues, and founded Heartlines, an NGO that initiates research-based campaigns that use story to address social issues in schools, churches, workplaces and correctional facilities.
Japhet is a Schwab Fellow of the World Economic Forum and a Senior Ashaka Fellow. He has received the global Everett Rogers Award for his contribution to Entertainment Education.
