Reggie Vandeyar (1931 - 2015) was a member of the Transvaal Indian Congress‚ the South African Communist Party and the African National Congress. In 1961 he joined Umkhonto we Sizwe, was arrested and convicted in 1964 for his activities against the apartheid state. He served a 10 year prison sentence on Robben Island. On his release he was banned and placed under house arrest for 10 years. In the 1980s he was involved in the formation of the United Democratic Front (UDF).
