A collection of edited transcripts of life-story interviews conducted with 25 current and past residents of Wentworth, Durban.

"Superbly told through excellent, often wry oral interviews, here are authentic Wentworth voices in the making of a 'coloured' working and lower middle-class community with an insistent belief in a philosophy of progress and self-improvement. This is fashioned, as much as possible, through their own agency, often as outsiders in the daring interstices between the legal and the illicit." Dr Ian Edwards, co-author (with Marc Epprecht) of Working Class Homosexuality in South Africa, Voices from the archive
