Foreword by Sir Anthony Seldon.

Anti-apartheid activist, teacher, headmaster, writer and poet C.J. Driver (known as Jonty) was born in Cape Town in 1939. He was President of the National Union of South African Students in 1963–4, and was detained in solitary confinement by the security police. The renewal of his passport was refused when he was at Oxford in 1967 and he became stateless for five years. He lives in East Sussex, England.

Here he writes about his experience as a teacher and headmaster at Sevenoaks and Humberstone Comprehensive School in the UK, the Island School in Hong Kong and Berkhamstead and Wellington College, again in the UK.
