British journalist, political scientist and historian R.W. Johnson (b. 1943) is an Emeritus Fellow of Magdalen College, Oxford, and a former Director of the Helen Suzman Foundation. His many books include South Africa's Brave New World: The beloved country since the end of apartheid (2009); How Long Will South Africa Survive? The looming crisis (2015) and Foreign Native: An African journey (2020). He lives in Cape Town.
