Chartered account Nigel Hughes is the author of The Paintings of the Bay of Natal: A selection of works dating from 1945 to 1982 (2001), Views in Colonial Natal: A select catalogue raisonné of the southern African paintings of Cathcart William Methvwn (1849-1925) (2005) and Durban in the 1920s and 1930s (2021).

Professor Trevor Jones, now retired, was co-ordinator of the Unit of Maritime Law and Maritime Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
