A collection of photographs by Mavis Mtandeki from 1990 to the present.
Mavis Mtandeki was born in a squatter camp in Bellville in 1947 and was employed as a domestic worker in Cape Town for many years. In 1989 she left her job to attend a one-year media course at Community Arts Project. Thereafter she began to document the lives of the women surrounding her, especially their relocation from KTC, a squatter camp outside Cape Town, to Tambo Village, the first financial investment in low-cost housing made by the post-1994 government.
