Discusses several prominent members of the New African Movement: Mazisi Kunene, Bernard Makhosozwe Magubane, Ernest Mancoba, Nontsizi Mgqwetho and Ezekiel Mphahlele. The New African Movement consisted of writers, political and religious leaders, artists, teachers, scientists who called themselves New Africans, to distinguish themselves from the Old Africans since they were engaged with creating a new African modernity rather than finding consolation in the old ways of traditional societies.
