An account of the successful 2006 court case that enabled the indigent family of musician Solomon Linda to benefit financially from their deceased father's talent, despite his having signed away all his rights to a song he composed in 1938, called "Mbube". This song later evolved into the international super-hit song, "The Lion Sleeps Tonight".

Owen Dean was the leading lawyer in the court case and regards it as the most interesting, challenging and worthwhile case of his legal career. When he retired after 50 years of practice, he established a Chair of Intellectual Property Law at Stellenbosch University, where he became a professor. He is the author of a textbook on South African copyright law and two novels, The Summit Syndrome and Reach for the Summit, both based on one of his court cases. Currently he works as a consultant and is Emeritus Professor of Mercantile Law.  He lives in Helderberg.
