Autobiography by Dr Bheki Masango.

Born in the early 1970s under apartheid and raised in poverty in rural South Africa by his mother after his father died when he was two, Bheki Masango vowed to carve out a better life for himself. He initially trained as a teacher and later transitioned into medicine, earning his MBCHB in 2004 from the Instituto Superior de Villa Clara (Cuba)/ Medunsa. After serving as Medical Manager at a hospital in Mpumalanga, he pursued specialist training, graduating in 2021 with a MMed and FCPath in Microbiology from the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS). He also holds a DTM&H from Wits and an Oliver Tambo postgraduate Health Management Diploma from UCT.

Clinical Microbiologist Dr Bheki Masango works for Pathcare Laboratories in Gauteng.
