A log kept by Nancy Brooks, as well as her recollections of events, compiled by her daughter, Nancy Richards.  In 1938, at the age of 16, Nancy Brooks signed up as Captain’s Clerk on the SS Nailsea Manor, the ship captained by her father, Ronald Saunders Richards. 

Nancy Richards Senior was a fashion consultant in London. She died in 2008.

Nancy Richards Junior is an independent journalist and podcaster and founder of Woman Zone and The Women's Library. She lives in Cape Town.
