In 2019 Johannes Stefansson blew the whistle on the corrupt operations of his former employer, Icelandic fishing company Samherji, then working in Namibian waters. His revelations unveiled the collusion between Samherji and Namibian business and political elites. What became known as the 'Fishrot Files' were published through a collaboration between The Namibian, WikiLeaks, The Icelandic Broadcasting Service, RUV and the Icelandic newspaper Stundin.
Roman Grynberg, a former professor of economics at the University of Namibia, has served as Advisor to UCTAD, as Deputy Director of Trade at the Commonwealth Secretariat and as Director of Economic Governance at the Pacific Islands Forum. His most recent book is African Gold (2021).
