Daniel Dumile Qeqe (1929–2005) was a Port Elizabeth leader who administered non-racial rugby and cricket in the Eastern Cape. He helped establish the KwaZakhele Rugby Union (Kwaru), a non-racial rugby union that was also a political and social movement. At the same time he worked with ‘collaborationist’ civic institutions and courted homeland structures.

Dr Buntu Siwisa is a senior research fellow at the Institute for Pan-African Thought and Conversation at the University of Johannesburg. He is the author of the novel, Paperless.
