Braam van Wyk is Professor in the Department of Botany at the University of Pretoria and Curator of the H.G.W.J. Schweickerdt Herbarium. His books include A Photographic Guide to Wildflowers of South Africa, How to Identify Trees in Southern Africa (with Piet van Wyk) and Aloes in Southern Africa (with Gideon Smith).

Piet van Wyk worked as a biologist with the Kruger National Park's research team until his retirement in 1991. His books include Field Guide to the Trees of the Kruger National Park. He died in 2006.
