Bennie McCarthy (b. 1977) grew up in Hanover Park on the Cape Flats. After a successful career as a teenager, he left South Africa to play for clubs in the Netherlands, Spain and England and was the top scorer at the Africa Cup of Nations finals. He retired from soccer in 2013 and went on to build a successful career as a coach. He is currently the manager of the Kenya national football team.
Mark Gleeson has been writing and broadcasting about football in South Africa for 40 years. He launched the magazine Kick Off! and has worked with World Cup and 14 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
