Annemarié van Niekerk lives in the Netherlands and reviews books for Trouw, a leading Dutch newspaper. She freelances for South African media and publishers and has compiled three collections of women’s writing: Raising the Blinds, Vrouevertellers, and The Torn Veil. Her memoir, Onder ’n bloedrooi hemel: Liefde en geweld in Suid-Afrika, was published in Afrikaans in 2023, and an English edition, translated by Michiel Heyns, was published in 2026 as Under a Blood Red Sky.
