Dr John Manning is a research botanist at the South African National Biodiversity Institute in Cape Town. His books include Field Guide to Wild Flowers of South Africa and Field Guide to Fynbos.

Consultant Nick Helms runs Nick Helms Botanical Surveys, which undertakes botanical and ecological assessments throughout the Greater Cape Floristic Region and in countries further afield. He is the lead author of Cape Floristic Region assessments for the SANBI Red List of South African Plants.
