In her autobiography Xoliswa Matanzima-Jozana describes her life in the Eastern Cape as the daughter of King Daliwonga Matanzima. She has grappled with the traditional and social expectations placed upon women of royal lineage, struggled for a basic education, and survived a forced child marriage and violent domestic abuse.

Xoliswa Matanzima-Jozana, now retired, served in senior positions in The Presidency and the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform. She also taught at Bendel State University in Nigeria (now Edo State University) and the University of the Transkei (now Walter Sisulu University).
