Shannon Walsh has written and directed five feature documentaries and co-edited the book, The Ties that Bind: Race and the politics of friendship in South Africa (with J. Soske). She is a 2021 Guggenheim Fellow and an Associate Professor of Film Production at the University of British Columbia.

Claudia Mitchell is a Distinguished James McGill Professor and an Honorary Professor at the University of KwaZulu-Natal where she is the co-founder of the Centre for Visual Methodologies. Her books include Teaching in HIV and AIDS and Methodologies for Mapping in Southern African Girlhood in the Age of AIDS (with R. Moletsane, A. Smith and L. Chisholm).

Mandla Oliphant is a community activist, facilitator and organizer based in Khayelitsha, a township outside Cape Town. He was involved in the Treatment Action Campaign.
