243pp., paperback, First Afrikaans Language Edition, Cape Town & Edinburgh, 2022

First published in 1996 as The Buchan Papers. Translated into Afrikaans by Marietjie Delport.

In January 1903 John Buchan, one of Lord Milner's Kindergarten, was instructed by Milner and visiting British Secretary of State, Joseph Chamberlain, to travel to Pilgrim's Rest to find the gold that was removed from the State Mint by the Transvaal government during the Anglo-Boer War when British forces advanced.

Some say this account of Buchan's journey was written by JDF Jones. The publishers of this edition disagree.

Also available in English as Kruger's Gold.
