Kruger Speaks is a conversation with a living place, giving voice to an interconnected system of rivers and trees, insects and birds, predators and prey. The book includes interviews with the people who work there and the communities that border it, and explores everything from how elephants shape the landscape to the difficult realities of conservation and poaching.

Dr Don Pinnock is an environmental and investigative  journalist with Daily Maverick and has served as editor of the travel magazine Getaway.  A historian and criminologist by training, he has written and co-authored 18 books, many on environmental issues, including (with Colin Bell) The Last Lions.

Helena Kriel  was born in Johannesburg and lives between South Africa and the USA. A writer, screenwriter, producer and playwright, her books include the memoir The Year of Facing Fire and Meditating with Rhinos. She is the founder of the non-profit Baby Rhino Rescue.

Through intimate interviews and vivid storytelling, the hidden life of the park emerges: the dedication of those who protect it, the complexity of conservation, the rough lives of the poachers who plunder it and the ever-present tension between sanctuary and survival
